This post is all about foods to eat to balance or heal your main seven chakras. I will tell a little about each of these chakras, starting from the base and working up to the crown of your head. The chakras are very important to familiarize yourself with because unhealthy/unbalanced chakras lead to many physical and emotional problems.
Your first chakra is located at the base of your spine and is connected to feelings of security and survival. As your foundation, your root chakra connects you to the physical world. When your root chakra is unbalanced you may not feel safe in your body or find yourself easily stressed.
Colors associated with this chakra are deep reds and browns. The foods that are best for the root chakra are foods that grow underground like beets, potatoes, carrots and other “root” foods. Protein rich foods, spicy foods and seasonings are all good for this chakra.
This is the next chakra, located just below your navel. This is linked to your passions, sexuality, and emotional wellbeing. If this chakra is not healthy you will not have a good understanding of the role sex plays in your life, you will also lack passion.
This chakra is a strong orange color. This chakra feeds off of liquids, oils and orange colored foods (pumpkins, oranges, carrots, etc.), fatty foods, sweet fruits, and nuts.
The third chakra is located between your navel and sternum, this is where you get your energy from. Think of this as your supply of personal power and thus very important to keep balanced, lack of energy and confidence are side effects of an unhealthy Solar Plexus.
The Solar Plexus is yellow like the Sun. Yellow foods like squash, bananas, yellow peppers, corn, etc. as well as whole grains like brown rice and oats.
This is the fourth chakra, located near the heart. This chakra is all about love, of self and for others. It connects the lower three chakras to the upper three, so its very important to keep this chakra balanced.
Colors associated with the heart chakra are pinks and lime green. Eat greens, like spinach, kale, chard and all other leafy greens.
This chakra is responsible for how well you are able to communicate your emotions, ideas, and needs. It is located near the throat. An imbalance here leads to the inability to speak up when necessary or speaking out of place.
Blue is the color of the throat chakra. Foods that are a deep blue color like blueberries, figs, and also kelp is good to balance this chakra. Foods high in water like watermelon or soup are great for this chakra as we associate the color blue with water.
Sometimes called the brow chakra, located in the center of the forehead. This is where your insight comes from, people with a strong third eye have a lot of wisdom and are able to solve many problems. A weak third eye makes a person blind (spiritually) and lack discernment.
The third eye is an indigo or purple color, so eat purple foods to heal the third eye. Grapes, purple potatoes, plums and blackberries.
Located at the top of the head, this chakra connects us to a higher purpose or God. Without balance here a person is unable to see the bigger picture and become lost.
Describe as a pure white or gold color, this chakra is feed by water, fresh air and sunlight. If you are looking to heal this chakra the best thing to do is to detox and fast.
